The net position, the government equivalent of net worth, (assets-liabilities) ballooned from $68 million at the end of 2014 to $253 million at the end of 2024. As in a business, it’s an accumulation of surpluses between revenues and expenses, where you add current revenues to the beginning balance and subtract current expenditures.
Even if there’s an alleged $90 million frozen pending a 2028 referendum that still leaves $163 million. Ask your local school board or city council if they have that much kicking around.
